‘Your mother was one of the bravest people I know. She cared more about saving the world and the people around her than protecting herself. She told me tales from when she was at Warehouse 12, how she worked with some of the world’s most brilliant minds. She was wonderful and selfless and beautiful, and I knew from the moment I saw her she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

Somehow she knew she wouldn’t be around for long, that the Regents wouldn’t let her stay after what she did, so she wrote this diary for you.’

The first page reads:

‘My darling daughter. I am sorry I had to leave you. Please understand I would give everything to change my actions, but I know all too well that the past cannot be re-written. I know you will grow up to be a wonderful human being.

Happy 10th birthday,

Love, your mother, Helena.’
